Your Spiti Kinnaur expedition kicks off in Manali, the threshold of the high Himalayas. Day one is dedicated to strategic acclimatization and mental preparation. After checking in, you’ll meet the Wolfpack team for an in-depth technical orientation. We cover everything from ADV motorcycle handling and high-altitude safety to navigating remote mountain trails. Manali to Jibhi: The Warm-up
Roll out with a dedicated backup vehicle and mechanic. Experience fatigue-free riding on smooth tarmac and narrow mountain roads as we head toward the scenic village of Jibhi.
Jalori Pass: The Technical Ascent Ascend the steep Jalori Pass, mastering broken tarmac and tight hairpins. After a high-altitude lunch, we descend toward Sainj, navigating technical terrain with expert lead guidance.
The Highway Run to Rampur The final 30km transitions into open highway alongside the Sutlej. We reach Rampur to rest, marking a successful day of pass-crossing and varied Himalayan landscapes.

The next morning after breakfast leaving early from Delhi we move towards Manali. The Indian city traffic is like the busiest rush hour on steroids, good thing we won’t have to ride in it there will be a MPV/minivan to pick you up and take you towards Himachal Pradesh. Going to Manali, our first destination in the Trans Himalayan Spiti expedition which is 500km away a long however comfortable journey through good roads. Along the way giving you glimpses of the multifaceted country. Entering Himachal you enter the foothills of Himalayas. Reaching your hotel you will meet our trip manager and tour leaders who will welcome you.

The Kinnaur Gateway Enter the dramatic Sutlej canyon via iconic rock-cut “cliff-hanger” roads. Master the narrow “Trunk Road” rhythm, balancing precision near vertical drops as the landscape turns massive and granite diverting from Karcham bridge.
Cross Karcham Bridge to climb into lush alpine meadows. Navigate technical “broken tarmac” and light off-road sections with focused throttle control before a lunch in scenic Sangla.
Reach Chitkul, the last village on the Indian border. Explore ancient wooden architecture and glacial streams. We return towards Sangla to recharge before the greenery fades into high-altitude Spiti desert.

Our Spiti adventure begins in the charming mountain town of Manali. Taking it easy in the morning having breakfast giving you plenty of time to recuperate from jet lag or fatigue from the long journey till here. In the afternoon we’ll gather for a briefing session where you will also get introduced to your beautiful motorcycles, we’ll cover the route details, safety protocols, and the technical aspects of off-road riding. You’ll receive instruction on how to navigate safely on Indian roads proper techniques for handling your adventure (ADV) motorcycle. After that we go out for a small ride around Naggar riding through pine trees having lunch in Naggar we move out to explore and ride more backroads. This session prepares you for the exciting journey ahead and gives you a chance to meet your fellow riders.

Descend from Sangla and ride until we reach Khab Bridge, the dramatic junction of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers. Gaze at Reo Purgyil, Himachal’s peak, as lush greens fade into Spiti’s high-altitude desert.
Conquer the rugged switchbacks to Nako. Manage your bike’s power through steep climbs to reach this high-altitude village perched above the valley for a serene, well-earned lunch break.
Visit the rare 500-year-old mummy at Gyu before reaching Tabo. The home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo monastery a mud-brick monastery preserved through centuries of mountain history.

The journey begins as we leave behind the mountain town of Manali and venture towards the tranquil Tirthan Valley. The fresh mountain air and winding roads set the perfect tone for our adventure. Starting from open highways as we enter Tirthan valley the roads will get narrower and the views marvellous. Giving Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle book vibes. En route, we stop at the picturesque hill station of Jibhi for lunch—a tranquil village tucked away in the Himalayas, amidst the lush greenery and serene mountain streams.
From there, we ascend towards Jalori Pass, a stunning drive through dense deodar forests that fills the air with the scent of pine. As the road climbs spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas open up. Once at the top, we capture some unforgettable photos, and take in the sweeping vistas of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
After a brief pause, we begin our descent into Rampur, a historic town situated along the banks of the Sutlej River. The winding road gradually transitions from the alpine forests of Jalori to the warmer, more temperate terrain of lower altitudes. By evening, we reach Rampur, where we check in to your hotel and unwind, prepping for the adventures that await us tomorrow.

Explore the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO-worthy spiritual hub. Walk through ancient mud-brick halls featuring preserved 10th-century frescoes and murals before we gear up for the high-road.
Dhankar: The Cliffside Climb, ride to Dhankar, the ancient cliffside capital at 3,894m. Master technical switchbacks to witness the Spiti and Pin river confluence—a dramatic display of high-altitude resilience and history.
Pivot off-road into Pin Valley’s raw, river-cut terrain. Navigate stone tracks and glacial silt to reach Mudh, the “last village” of Pin valley. A lush green, colourful, snow-capped contrast to the stark Spiti desert landscape.

After breakfast in Rampur, we move towards Sarahan an ancient town situated above Sutlej river on the old Indo Tibetan road known as ’The gateway to Kinnaur’ this town hosts a grand Bhimakali temple built in traditional Kath Kuni method whose architecture is indigenous to the state of Himachal Pradesh. Spending time in Sarahan we leave for Baspa valley.
The route to Sangla diverts at Karcham bridge crossing the bridge we start our climb into the colourful Baspa valley.
From here on out the road again changes to single lane with broken tarmac and off road at places.
We pause for lunch at Sangla amidst towering peaks and verdant meadows.
Our journey continues deeper into Baspa valley as we make our way to Chitkul, the last village on the Indian side of the border with China. Settled at the end of the Baspa Valley, Chitkul offers a picturesque setting with its traditional wooden houses and stunning mountain vistas. After exploring Chitkul, we return to Batseri, where we spend the night. The lush green surroundings create a peaceful retreat, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy.

Postcards from the Sky, visit Hikkim, the world’s highest post office. Send a letter home from 4,400m before a technical descent back to Kaza. A surreal, personal connection from the literal roof of the world.

Today, we will have an exhilarating journey from Sangla to Tabo. After an early breakfast, we set off towards the Khab Bridge, where two mighty rivers—Sutlej and Piti—meet, as do two great ranges, the Zanskar and the Greater Himalayas. The sight of Reo Purgyil, the highest peak in Himachal, towering in the distance is also visible from here. As we move closer to Khab, changes in landscape will start to occur from forest green to barren brown. Slowly and steadily we are moving into Zanskar range.
From Khab, we begin our ascent towards Nako, a high altitude village in the Hangrang valley. From here on out we are in the region influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, the local greeting to people from here on out is Julley!!
Once we arrive in Nako, we take a well-deserved break for lunch, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of this charming mountain haven.
Post-lunch, we continue our journey towards Gyu Monastery, home to one of the world’s few self-mummified monks—a truly unique sight. After spending some time at this remarkable monastery, we push forward to Tabo, where the ancient Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest in the world, awaits us. As we settle in for the night, the history and spirituality of this special place offers a peaceful conclusion to our day’s journey.

We begin our day with a visit to the ancient Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Founded in 996 AD, Tabo is one of the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist monasteries in the world. Its intricate murals, ancient statues, and preserved frescoes offer a glimpse into the rich history and spiritual heritage of the Spiti Valley, making it a profound experience for visitors.
After spending the morning at Tabo, we head towards another architectural marvel—Dhankar Monastery. Perched precariously on a cliff at an altitude of 3,894 meters, Dhankar was once the capital of the Spiti Valley. This 1,000-year-old monastery offers views of the confluence of the Spiti, Pin Rivers and vast Spiti valley this also stands as an evidence of resilience and spirituality of the region.
From Dhankar, we descend to the main highway and head for Kaza the main town of Spiti which will be our base for next couple of days at Kaza we check into our hotel and stay here for the night.

On Day 8, we begin our return from the snow-covered landscapes of Spiti. The morning ride will be depedent on weather conditions how early we should start. Our first break will be in Tabo.
By afternoon, we halt at Nako for a relaxed lunch break. After our lunch we prepare ourselves for the next hundred kilometers of our day’s journey.
Descending further into Kinnaur by evening, we arrive at Kalpa, a picturesque settlement known for its breathtaking mountain views.
Towering above the horizon is the majestic Kinnaur Kailash, glowing in changing light as the day comes to a close. With comfortable surroundings and a sense of accomplishment in the air, our stay in Kalpa becomes a well-earned celebration of the expedition’s challenges, resilience, and unforgettable moments.

After a morning brief, we set out for a day of exploration, starting with the enchanting village of Langza. Known for its towering golden Buddha statue that gazes over the valley, This village was once part of an ancient seabed, and even today, fossils of marine life can be found scattered around. The calming aura of Langza, combined with its stunning location amid snow-capped peaks, makes it an ideal spot to just be.
From Langza, we head towards Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. Posting a letter or postcard is old fashioned still from this altitude—sending a message from the roof of the world to your loved ones. It’s a rare experience that few get to enjoy, connecting the remote Himalayan highlands to the rest of the world through a simple act.
Our next stop is Komic, the highest motorable village on Earth. The sense of achievement upon reaching this remote village is unparalleled, knowing you’ve arrived at one of the highest inhabited places in the world.
Having completed the classic Spiti tourist circuit, we take our adventure off the beaten path. For people who would like to extend the day with some off-road adventure can join while others who feel fatigued can move back to the hotel. Wolfpack Adventure leads the way to some lesser-known, hidden off-road trails, guiding you through rugged terrain far from the usual tourist spots. These secluded gems offer a more intimate connection with the raw beauty of Spiti, giving you a taste of the untouched wilderness and serene isolation that few travellers ever witness. And we will take you guys to a special place to blow your mind by the end of the day.
After a day filled with exploration and adventure, we return to Kaza for the night, carrying with us the memories of unique experiences in the Spiti Valley’s most remarkable locales.

On Day 8 after a well-deserved rest and a refreshing yourself in Kalpa, we begin our steady descent toward Rampur, where we pause for lunch along the Sutlej Valley.
Continuing onward, we ride to Tattapani. After days spent navigating icy roads and enduring sub-zero temperatures, the region’s natural hot springs provide a deeply rejuvenating experience.
The warm, mineral-rich sulphur waters act as the perfect antidote to accumulated fatigue—soothing sore muscles, restoring circulation, and allowing the body to finally unwind after the rigours of the journey. Surrounded by the gentle sounds of the river and the milder climate, this evening offers a peaceful transition from high-altitude adventure back toward the comforts of civilization.

By this day already set to the rhythm of the days we start with a visit to Chicham Bridge, the highest suspension bridge in Asia, perched high above a dramatic gorge. The sheer scale and engineering of the bridge makes up for a thrilling experience as we stand above the depths of the valley, taking in the dizzying views.
From Chicham, we move on to Kibber, one of the highest villages in the world and a gateway to the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. As we explore this remote area, there’s always the chance of spotting rare wildlife such as the blue sheep, ibex or if really lucky snow leopard in the rugged landscapes that surround the village.
Next, we embark on an off-road adventure, navigating hidden trails that lead us higher in Spiti. These trails are again less traveled but offer a view from high hanging mountain, far away from the typical tourist routes. These special trails are the roads that you might remember the most.
By midday, we make our way to Key Monastery for lunch. This stunning hilltop monastery is an architectural wonder, with its centuries-old history and commanding views of the valley. This monastery used to be an ancient school to learn Tibetan Buddhism. With chambers built inside the monastery for meditation. After lunch, we explore the monastery, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and Buddhist culture that thrives within its walls.
As the day winds down, we return to Kaza for the night, having experienced the best of Spiti’s adventurous and spiritual offerings.

On the final day of our expedition, we bid farewell to Tattapani and begin our ride toward the off-road trails, embracing the last stretch of this unforgettable journey.
We stop at Mandi for lunch, taking a moment to relax.
The final leg takes us alongside the Beas River as we ride toward Dobhi. This stretch, though less demanding, carries a strong sense of accomplishment. The changing landscape, familiar air, and smoother roads mark our return from the remote Himalayas.

Leaving Kaza behind we move towards Chandratal Lake, crossing the majestic Kunzum Pass along the way. Kunzum Pass, standing at an impressive 4,551 meters, serves as the link between Spiti and Lahaul Valleys. The drive up to the pass offers panoramic views of glaciers, rugged mountain peaks, and high-altitude deserts. Upon reaching the pass, it is customary to pay homage to Kunzum Devi, the guardian of the pass, for a safe journey.
Descending from Kunzum, we continue towards Chandratal, a high-altitude lake revered for its ethereal beauty. Chandratal is a crescent-shaped lake, surrounded by towering peaks and has crystal-clear waters. This night we will have to camp in Swiss tents. However it is well worth the view. The starlit sky above Chandratal adds an unforgettable magic to the evening, making this night an extraordinary experience.
