A summer Spiti circuit covering Kinnaur, Spiti, and Lahaul—designed for slow, immersive exploration rather than rushed travel. This itinerary includes high-altitude villages, ancient monasteries, hidden off-road trails, Kunzum Pass, and the lake accessible for only four months in an year, Chandrataal.
Your Spiti Valley motorcycle tour begins in the vibrant mountain town of Manali, the gateway to the Himalayas and the starting point of the iconic Spiti circuit. Arriving from your respective destinations, you’ll check into your hotel and have time to relax, freshen up, and acclimatize to the mountain environment.
In the evening, we gather for a detailed rider briefing and orientation session, an essential part of every Spiti bike trip during the summer season. Our experienced expedition leaders will walk you through the route plan, daily riding distances, weather expectations, and important safety protocols for high-altitude travel. Special focus is given to the technical aspects of off-road riding in the Himalayas, including body positioning, throttle control, cornering on narrow mountain roads, and handling loose gravel and river crossings on an ADV motorcycle.
This interactive session not only prepares you for the challenging yet rewarding terrain of Spiti Valley, but also allows you to connect with fellow riders joining the expedition. The day ends with a relaxed evening, giving you time to rest, adjust, and mentally prepare for the adventure that unfolds as we ride deeper into the high-altitude desert in the coming days.

The final day of our expedition takes us on the last off-road journey from Chandratal to Gramphu. The riding day of our Spiti circuit motorcycle tour begins early in Manali. After breakfast, we gear up and roll out, riding on motorcycles, while a dedicated backup vehicle with a professional mechanic follows the group throughout the day. This allows riders to focus purely on the experience and enjoy the terrain without the fatigue of luggage.
The initial stretch of approximately 60 km towards Mandi is entirely on smooth tarmac roads, making it an ideal warm-up for the days ahead and helping riders settle into their motorcycles on Himalayan highways. A short refreshment break at Harabagh gives us time to hydrate and take in the changing mountain scenery
From Harabagh to Tattapani, the ride turns adventurous as we leave the main road and enter a series of off-road mountain trails, the types of which that don’t even appear on Google Maps.
This section introduces riders to controlled off-road riding in the Himalayas, with guidance from our expedition leaders as we navigate natural trails, varied gradients, and loose surfaces. Crossing these trails, we arrive at Tattapani, where we stop for lunch near the river.
Post lunch, the journey continues from Tattapani to Rampur, following a narrow, winding tarmac road with continuous twists and turns carved into the mountainside. This scenic stretch rewards smooth riding and precise cornering before the road gradually widens as we approach Rampur, marking the end of a long yet satisfying first riding day.
The evening is spent resting and recovering, preparing for the higher altitudes and more remote terrain that await as we ride deeper into Spiti Valley.

From Khab, the road climbs steadily towards Nako, a scenic high-altitude village perched above the valley. Known for its serene setting and a small lake at its centre.

We begin the day with a visit to the ancient Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Founded in 996 AD, Tabo is among the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist monasteries in the world.
Walking through its prayer halls, preserved frescoes, intricate murals, and centuries-old statues offers a powerful insight into the spiritual and cultural heritage of Spiti Valley, setting a reflective tone for the day ahead.
Leaving Tabo, we ride towards another iconic landmark of the region—Dhankar Monastery. Dramatically perched on a cliff at an altitude of approximately 3,894 metres, Dhankar once served as the capital of Spiti Valley.
From here, sweeping views open up over the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers, along with vast expanses of the surrounding valley. The monastery stands as a striking symbol of the resilience, history, and deep spirituality that define this high-altitude landscape.
From Dhankar, the terrain shifts once again as we descend and turn off the main road for the day’s adventure—an off-road ride into Pin Valley. The trail leads us through raw mountain tracks and river-cut terrain as we make our way to Mudh, the last village of Pin Valley and one of the most beautiful and secluded villages in Spiti.
Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, green fields, and traditional stone houses, Mudh offers a rare contrast to the stark desert landscape of Spiti. We arrive by evening and settle in, ending the day amidst the quiet charm of this remote Himalayan valley.

By this stage of the journey, we are fully settled into the rhythm of life in Spiti Valley. The day begins with a visit to Chicham Bridge, dramatically spanning a deep gorge between Chicham and Kibber villages. Standing high above the valley floor, the scale of the bridge and the surrounding landscape delivers a thrilling perspective on the engineering feats required to connect life in these remote mountains.
From Chicham, we ride onward to Kibber, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world and the gateway to the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. The stark, rugged terrain around Kibber is home to rare Himalayan wildlife, and while sightings are never guaranteed, this region offers a chance to spot blue sheep, ibex, and—if fortune truly favours—the elusive snow leopard.
Leaving Kibber behind, the ride takes a more adventurous turn as we head onto Wolfpack’s specially curated off-road trails, climbing higher into the mountains on routes far removed from typical tourist paths.
These less-travelled high-altitude trails offer sweeping views from hanging ridgelines and remote vantage points that few visitors ever experience. This section of the ride is often remembered as one of the most rewarding—raw, quiet, and deeply immersive.
By midday, we arrive at Key Monastery for lunch. Perched dramatically atop a hill, this iconic monastery is both an architectural and spiritual landmark of Spiti.
Once an important centre for learning Tibetan Buddhism, Key Monastery houses meditation chambers, prayer halls, and centuries of living history within its walls. After lunch, we explore the monastery and observe sunset. As the day draws to a close, we ride back to Kaza.
