The evening features an in-depth technical briefing to prepare you for the rugged Spiti terrain. We’ll cover ADV-specific skills: and the art of picking lines through Himalayan water crossings.
You will be introduced to off road riding basics:
– How to saddle on an adv motorcycle.
– How to navigate through narrow mountain roads
– How to sit or saddle and control your adv motorcycle confidently in any road condition.
Crucially, we’ll decode the unique rhythm of Indian traffic—from mountain trucks to local cattle—ensuring you navigate with total confidence. This orientation turns mountain vibes into mission readiness. Prep your gear; the ride begins tomorrow.

The final day of our expedition takes us on the last off-road journey from Chandratal to Gramphu. This route is filled with challenging water crossings and winding paths, filled with gravel that weave through stunning valleys. The rugged terrain and raw beauty of the landscapes keep the thrill alive. One of our personal favourite route.

The Morning: Highway Rhythm, roll out early to master Indian “horn-language” and flow. Ride 80km of tarmac without luggage, focusing on bike geometry and curves with our dedicated backup vehicle support.
The Dirt: ADV Body Positioning, tackle unmapped trails via Harabagh. Practice off-road positioning and rear-brake steering on loose gradients with expert guidance before a riverside lunch at Tattapani.
The Afternoon: Precision Twisties, refine throttle control on narrow cliff-carved tarmac to Rampur. Maintain focus through rhythmic blind turns with river views, ending a technical day with last 30km of smooth cruise to our hotel.

The journey begins as we leave behind the bustling town of Manali and venture towards the tranquil Tirthan Valley. The fresh mountain air and winding roads set the perfect tone for our adventure. En route, we stop at the picturesque hill station of Jibhi for lunch—a tranquil village tucked away in the Himalayas, amidst the lush greenery and serene mountain streams.
From there, we ascend towards Jalori Pass, a stunning drive through dense deodar forests that fills the air with an invigorating scent of pine. As the road climbs spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas wait for us. Once at the top, we step out to soak in the crisp air, capture some unforgettable photos, and take in the sweeping vistas of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
After a brief pause, we begin our descent into Rampur, a historic town situated along the banks of the Sutlej River. The winding road gradually transitions from the alpine forests of Jalori to the warmer, more temperate terrain of lower altitudes. By evening, we reach Rampur, where we check in to your hotel and unwind, prepping for the adventures that await us tomorrow.

The Kinnaur Gateway Enter the dramatic Sutlej canyon via iconic rock-cut “cliff-hanger” roads. Master the narrow “Trunk Road” rhythm, balancing precision near vertical drops as the landscape turns massive and granite diverting from Karcham bridge.
Cross Karcham Bridge to climb into lush alpine meadows. Navigate technical “broken tarmac” and light off-road sections with focused throttle control before a lunch in scenic Sangla.
Reach Chitkul, the last village on the Indian border. Explore ancient wooden architecture and glacial streams. We return towards Sangla to recharge before the greenery fades into high-altitude Spiti desert.

After a hearty breakfast in Rampur, we set out towards Kinnaur, embarking on a scenic drive along single-lane roads that weave through the rugged Himalayan terrain. As we enter deeper into Kinnaur, we descend down to ride alongside river in Kinnaur giving a wider view of the valley.
The route to Sangla diverts at Karcham bridge crossing the bridge we start our climb into the colourful Baspa valley.
From here on out the road again changes to single lane with broken tarmac and off road at places.
We pause for lunch at Sangla amidst towering peaks and verdant meadows.
Our journey continues deeper into Baspa valley as we make our way to Chitkul, the last village on the Indian side of the border with China. Settled at the end of the Baspa Valley, Chitkul offers a picturesque setting with its traditional wooden houses and stunning mountain vistas. After exploring Chitkul, we return to Baspa Valley, where we spend the night. The cool, crisp air and serene surroundings create a peaceful retreat, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the Himalayas before heading to bed.

The Khab Confluence, descend from Sangla to Khab Bridge, the junction of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers. Sight Reo Purgyil, Himachal’s highest peak, as we transition from Kinnaur greens to Spiti’s high-altitude desert.
Conquer the steady ascent to Nako, a high-altitude village perched above the valley. Manage your bike’s power through rugged switchbacks to reach the high altitude settled Nako village for a peaceful lunch break.
Visit the rare self-mummified monk at Gyu before riding to Tabo. Explore the 1,000-year-old “Ajanta of the Himalayas” monastery, ending our rewarding day immersed in deep-rooted Spiti spirituality.

Today, we will have an exhilarating journey from Sangla to Tabo. After an early breakfast, we set off towards the Khab Bridge, where two mighty rivers—Sutlej and Piti—meet, as do two great ranges, the Zanskar and the Greater Himalayas. The sight of Reo Purgyil, the highest peak in Himachal, towering in the distance is visible from here.
From Khab, we begin our ascent towards Nako, a high altitude village which has a lake at the centre of it.
Once we arrive in Nako, we take a well-deserved break for lunch, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of this charming mountain haven.
Post-lunch, we continue our journey towards Gyu Monastery, home to one of the world’s few self-mummified monks—a truly unique sight. After spending some time at this remarkable monastery, we push forward to Tabo, where the ancient Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest in the world, awaits us. As we settle in for the night, the history and spirituality of this special place offers a peaceful conclusion to our day’s journey.

The Ajanta of the Himalayas explore the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO-worthy spiritual hub. Walk through ancient mud-brick halls featuring preserved 10th-century frescoes and murals before we gear up for the high-road.
Dhankar: The Cliffside Climb, ride to Dhankar, the ancient cliffside capital at 3,894m. Master technical switchbacks to witness the Spiti and Pin river confluence—a dramatic display of high-altitude resilience and history.
Off-Road into Pin Valley, pivot off-road into Pin Valley’s raw, river-cut terrain. Navigate stone tracks and glacial silt to reach Mudh, the “last village” of Pin valley. A lush green, colourful, snow-capped contrast to the stark Spiti desert landscape.

We begin our day with a visit to the ancient Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Founded in 996 AD, Tabo is one of the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist monasteries in the world. Its intricate murals, ancient statues, and preserved frescoes offer a glimpse into the rich history and spiritual heritage of the Spiti Valley, making it a profound and moving experience for visitors.
After spending the morning at Tabo, we head towards another architectural marvel—Dhankar Monastery. Perched precariously on a cliff at an altitude of 3,894 meters, Dhankar was once the capital of the Spiti Valley. This 1,000-year-old monastery not only offers views of the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers and vast Spiti valley but also stands as an evidence of resilience and spirituality of the region.
From Dhankar, we descend to the main highway and head for Kaza. Kaza will be our base for the next few days. At Kaza we check into our hotel and stay here for the night.

The Golden Buddha & Fossils, ride off-road from Mudh to Kaza for a quick regroup. Ascend to Langza, the “ancient seabed,” where prehistoric fossils lie beneath the iconic golden Buddha statue overlooking the Spiti plateau.
Komic: The Top of the World, ride your machine to Komic, one of the world’s highest motorable villages. Experience the raw Himalayan plateau at 4,500m+—a humbling sense of achievement for any international adventure rider.
Postcards from the Sky, visit Hikkim, the world’s highest post office. Send a letter home from 4,400m before a technical descent back to Kaza. A surreal, personal connection from the literal roof of the world.

After a morning brief, we set out for a day of exploration, starting with the enchanting village of Langza. Known for its towering golden Buddha statue that gazes serenely over the valley, This village was once part of an ancient seabed, and even today, fossils of marine life can be found scattered around. The tranquil aura of Lanza, combined with its stunning location amid snow-capped peaks, makes it an ideal spot to pause for reflection and photographs with the iconic Buddha.
From Langza, we head towards Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. The sensation of posting a letter or postcard from this altitude is both surreal and thrilling—sending a message from the roof of the world to loved ones far below. It’s a rare experience that few get to enjoy, connecting the remote Himalayan highlands to the rest of the world through a simple yet profound act.
Our next stop is Komic, the highest motorable village on Earth. The ride up to Komic is exhilarating, with breathtaking views that stretch as far as the eye can see. The sense of achievement upon reaching this remote village is unparalleled, knowing you’ve arrived at one of the highest inhabited places in the world.
Having completed the classic Spiti tourist circuit, we take our adventure off the beaten path. Wolfpack Adventure leads the way to some lesser-known, hidden off-road trails, guiding you through rugged terrain far from the usual tourist spots. These secluded gems offer a more intimate connection with the raw beauty of Spiti, giving you a taste of the untouched wilderness and serene isolation that few travellers ever witness.

Cross Chicham Bridge, an engineering marvel spanning a deep gorge. Ride to Kibber, gateway to the wildlife sanctuary—keep watch for Blue Sheep, Ibex, and the rare Snow Leopard in the rocky crags.
Wolfpack’s Hidden Ridgelines, exit the main route for Wolfpack’s exclusive ridgeline trails. Navigate high-altitude unmapped dirt tracks that offer rare, immersive views far from tourist crowds. A technical and rewarding session.
Arrive at Key Monastery for lunch before exploring this 11th-century hilltop hub. Wander through ancient meditation chambers then witness a legendary Spiti sunset before a smooth cruise back to Kaza.

Today, we set out from Kaza and towards Chandratal Lake, crossing the majestic Kunzum Pass.
Along the way we visit Key monastery one of the ancient learning school of Tibetan Buddhism, Kibber wildlife sanctuary where people often sight blue sheep, ibex and when lucky enough a snow leopard. Lastly Chicham bridge Asia’s highest suspension bridge. Spending our time in these beautiful locations we move towards Lossar for lunch
After our lunch at Lossar then ascend towards Kunzum Pass, standing at an impressive 4,551 meters, serves as the gateway between Spiti and Lahaul Valleys. The drive up to the pass offers panoramic views of glaciers, rugged mountain peaks, and high-altitude deserts. Upon reaching the pass, it is customary to pay homage to Kunzum Devi, the guardian of the pass, for a safe journey.
Descending from Kunzum, we continue towards Chandratal, a high-altitude lake revered for its ethereal beauty. Upon arrival, the crescent-shaped lake, surrounded by towering peaks, welcomes us with its tranquil ambiance and crystal-clear waters. The starlit sky above Chandratal adds an unforgettable magic to the evening, making this night an extraordinary experience in the heart of the Himalayas.

The Guardian of the Pass climb to 4,551m over Kunzum Pass, the rugged link between Spiti and Lahaul. Pay respects at the Kunzum Devi shrine—a local tradition for safe passage—before descending to Chandrataal.
The Moon Lake Trail, navigate technical off-road trails and glacial water crossings to reach Chandratal. Accessible only four months a year, this crescent-shaped Chandrataal translating to “Moonlake” sits at 4,250m in a surreal alpine bowl.
Sleep in Swiss tents under a pristine sky. With zero light pollution, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye—a magical, remote highlight of our entire Spiti motorcycle expedition.

Retrace the 25km glacial track from camp back to Batal. Start with crisp mountain air and high-altitude gravel, stopping at the legendary Batal dhaba to regroup before the day’s main technical run.

Transit the 9.02km Atal Tunnel, shifting from high-desert back to the lush Beas Valley. We arrive in Manali by late afternoon—ideal for same-day travel or an optional, post-tour stay in town.

I did Winter Spiti Expedition with Wolfpack Adventures, and it was a fantastic experience. I first got to know about them through a friend who had already done the Winter Spiti ride with them. Initially, my plan was to do the expedition in a 4x4 with my wife, but her plans got cancelled at the last moment. I reached out to the team to see if it was possible to switch to a motorcycle instead, and despite the short notice they somehow managed to arrange one for me. I ended up riding a Hero XPulse 200 with the rally kit, and the bikes were prepped really well with fresh knobby tyres, which made riding in those winter conditions a lot of fun. The routes they planned were very scenic and really showcased the beauty of Himachal Pradesh. We did miss one section due to road closure, but that’s understandable given the weather and terrain. The hotels booked during the expedition were really good and comfortable. Another highlight of the trip was the people I met along the way — I made some great friends during this ride. Overall, it was an amazing experience riding through Spiti in winter. Huge thanks to the Wolfpack team for making it such a memorable trip.
A winter ride to spiti has been my childhood dream, and choosing them made it unforgettable. Rohit and Seemant didn’t feel like organizers,they felt like brothers. Every detail was perfect, safety, bikes, food, logistics, everything. By the end, leaving them felt emotional. Had an amazing expedition with WolfPack Adventure, led by Seemant and Rohit. The entire trip was extremely well planned from the breathtaking routes to the fantastic hotels at every stop. What really stood out was how professionally they handled unexpected detours, which are a natural part of any real adventure. Everything was managed smoothly. I had a bike breakdown in the middle of nowhere and within minutes the backup vehicle was there, the bike loaded and off to the next stop where they managed to source parts and got them transported overnight only so I could ride and complete my trip. This is a technical ADV expedition, not a standard highway tour. While we provide briefings, you should be comfortable with off-road terrain, loose gravel, and water crossings. But you should still have prior experience with motorcycles to fully enjoy the Spiti circuit.
We decode the “chaos” for you. On Day 1, we conduct a Traffic Dynamics briefing covering mountain etiquette and “horn-language.” Our lead rider and sweep ensure the group moves as a cohesive pack as much as it can.
Prepare for a digital detox. You’ll have signal from Manali till Kaza (BSNL/Airtel/Jio), but remote areas like Mudh and Chandratal are completely offline. We carry radio communication for emergency coordination during these “blackout” stretches.
June and September month is the “Golden Window.” While much of India faces the monsoon, Spiti is a rain shadow desert, offering dry, technical riding under clear skies. This 60-day period is the only time when Kinnaur route and the high-altitude Kunzum Pass (4,551m) is clear and allowing access to Chandratal and the full circuit.
Riding at 4,500m+ is a cardiovascular marathon, not a sprint. You don’t need to be an athlete, but a healthy heart and lungs are essential for managing the “thin air” of the Trans-Himalayas. We recommend a 4-week pre-tour routine of cardio (cycling/running) and core strength to combat saddle fatigue and keep your reflexes sharp during technical off-road.
A professional medical consultation is mandatory if you have a history of respiratory or blood-related conditions. The Spiti circuit involves sleeping at 4,250m (Chandratal) and crossing 4,551m (Kunzum Pass), where oxygen levels are significantly lower than at sea level. Anemia directly reduces your blood’s capacity to carry oxygen, while Asthma can be aggravated by the thin, cold, and dusty mountain air. We require a physician’s clearance for these conditions to ensure your safety in these remote, “zero-medical” zones where emergency evacuation can take several hours.

No. There are no ATMs after Kaza, Kaza also has only one ATM which has long que most times & (UPI/Cards) sometimes might lag at Kaza due to satellite lag. So we recommend you to carry at least 15,000 INR in cash From Rampur itself or before for personal expenses, souvenirs, or traditional Tibetan crafts. Consider this part of the “off-grid” charm of the Wolfpack experience.
