Jalori Pass: The Technical Ascent Ascend the steep Jalori Pass, mastering broken tarmac and tight hairpins. After a high-altitude lunch, we descend toward Sainj, navigating technical terrain with expert lead guidance.
The Highway Run to Rampur The final 30km transitions into open highway alongside the Sutlej. We reach Rampur to rest, marking a successful day of pass-crossing and varied Himalayan landscapes.

The next morning after breakfast leaving early from Delhi we move towards Manali. The Indian city traffic is like the busiest rush hour on steroids, good thing we won’t have to ride in it there will be a MPV/minivan to pick you up and take you towards Himachal Pradesh. Going to Manali, our first destination in the Trans Himalayan Spiti expedition which is 500km away a long however comfortable journey through good roads. Along the way giving you glimpses of the multifaceted country. Entering Himachal you enter the foothills of Himalayas. Reaching your hotel you will meet our trip manager and tour leaders who will welcome you.

The Kinnaur Gateway Enter the dramatic Sutlej canyon via iconic rock-cut “cliff-hanger” roads. Master the narrow “Trunk Road” rhythm, balancing precision near vertical drops as the landscape turns massive and granite diverting from Karcham bridge.
Cross Karcham Bridge to climb into lush alpine meadows. Navigate technical “broken tarmac” and light off-road sections with focused throttle control before a lunch in scenic Sangla.
Reach Chitkul, the last village on the Indian border. Explore ancient wooden architecture and glacial streams. We return towards Sangla to recharge before the greenery fades into high-altitude Spiti desert.

Our Spiti adventure begins in the charming mountain town of Manali. Taking it easy in the morning having breakfast giving you plenty of time to recuperate from jet lag or fatigue from the long journey till here. In the afternoon we’ll gather for a briefing session where you will also get introduced to your beautiful motorcycles, we’ll cover the route details, safety protocols, and the technical aspects of off-road riding. You’ll receive instruction on how to navigate safely on Indian roads proper techniques for handling your adventure (ADV) motorcycle. After that we go out for a small ride around Naggar riding through pine trees having lunch in Naggar we move out to explore and ride more backroads. This session prepares you for the exciting journey ahead and gives you a chance to meet your fellow riders.

Descend from Sangla and ride until we reach Khab Bridge, the dramatic junction of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers. Gaze at Reo Purgyil, Himachal’s peak, as lush greens fade into Spiti’s high-altitude desert.
Conquer the rugged switchbacks to Nako. Manage your bike’s power through steep climbs to reach this high-altitude village perched above the valley for a serene, well-earned lunch break.
Visit the rare 500-year-old mummy at Gyu before reaching Tabo. The home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo monastery a mud-brick monastery preserved through centuries of mountain history.

The journey begins as we leave behind the mountain town of Manali and venture towards the tranquil Tirthan Valley. The fresh mountain air and winding roads set the perfect tone for our adventure. Starting from open highways as we enter Tirthan valley the roads will get narrower and the views marvellous. Giving Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle book vibes. En route, we stop at the picturesque hill station of Jibhi for lunch—a tranquil village tucked away in the Himalayas, amidst the lush greenery and serene mountain streams.
From there, we ascend towards Jalori Pass, a stunning drive through dense deodar forests that fills the air with the scent of pine. As the road climbs spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas open up. Once at the top, we capture some unforgettable photos, and take in the sweeping vistas of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
After a brief pause, we begin our descent into Rampur, a historic town situated along the banks of the Sutlej River. The winding road gradually transitions from the alpine forests of Jalori to the warmer, more temperate terrain of lower altitudes. By evening, we reach Rampur, where we check in to your hotel and unwind, prepping for the adventures that await us tomorrow.

Explore the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO-worthy spiritual hub. Walk through ancient mud-brick halls featuring preserved 10th-century frescoes and murals before we gear up for the high-road.
Dhankar: The Cliffside Climb, ride to Dhankar, the ancient cliffside capital at 3,894m. Master technical switchbacks to witness the Spiti and Pin river confluence—a dramatic display of high-altitude resilience and history.
Ride broken tarmac and a small off-road section from Dhankar to Kaza. Kaza the headquarter town of Spiti will be our hub for the next two days.

After breakfast in Rampur, we move towards Sarahan an ancient town situated above Sutlej river on the old Indo Tibetan road known as ’The gateway to Kinnaur’ this town hosts a grand Bhimakali temple built in traditional Kath Kuni method whose architecture is indigenous to the state of Himachal Pradesh. Spending time in Sarahan we leave for Baspa valley.
The route to Sangla diverts at Karcham bridge crossing the bridge we start our climb into the colourful Baspa valley.
From here on out the road again changes to single lane with broken tarmac and off road at places.
We pause for lunch at Sangla amidst towering peaks and verdant meadows.
Our journey continues deeper into Baspa valley as we make our way to Chitkul, the last village on the Indian side of the border with China. Settled at the end of the Baspa Valley, Chitkul offers a picturesque setting with its traditional wooden houses and stunning mountain vistas. After exploring Chitkul, we return to Batseri, where we spend the night. The lush green surroundings create a peaceful retreat, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy.

Komic: The Top of the World, ride your machine to Komic, one of the world’s highest motorable villages. Experience the raw Himalayan plateau at 4,500m+—a humbling sense of achievement for any international adventure rider.
Postcards from the Sky, visit Hikkim, the world’s highest post office. Send a letter home from 4,400m before a technical descent back to Kaza. A surreal, personal connection from the literal roof of the world.

Today, we will have an exhilarating journey from Sangla to Tabo. After an early breakfast, we set off towards the Khab Bridge, where two mighty rivers—Sutlej and Piti—meet, as do two great ranges, the Zanskar and the Greater Himalayas. The sight of Reo Purgyil, the highest peak in Himachal, towering in the distance is also visible from here. As we move closer to Khab, changes in landscape will start to occur from forest green to barren brown. Slowly and steadily we are moving into Zanskar range.
From Khab, we begin our ascent towards Nako, a high altitude village in the Hangrang valley. From here on out we are in the region influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, the local greeting to people from here on out is Julley!!
Once we arrive in Nako, we take a well-deserved break for lunch, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of this charming mountain haven.
Post-lunch, we continue our journey towards Gyu Monastery, home to one of the world’s few self-mummified monks—a truly unique sight. After spending some time at this remarkable monastery, we push forward to Tabo, where the ancient Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest in the world, awaits us. As we settle in for the night, the history and spirituality of this special place offers a peaceful conclusion to our day’s journey.

Leaving Kaza behind we move towards Chandratal Lake, crossing the majestic Kunzum Pass along the way. Kunzum Pass, standing at an impressive 4,551 meters, serves as the link between Spiti and Lahaul Valleys. The drive up to the pass offers panoramic views of glaciers, rugged mountain peaks, and high-altitude deserts. Upon reaching the pass, it is customary to pay homage to Kunzum Devi, the guardian of the pass, for a safe journey.
Descending from Kunzum, we continue towards Chandratal, a high-altitude lake revered for its ethereal beauty. Chandratal is a crescent-shaped lake, surrounded by towering peaks and has crystal-clear waters. This night we will have to camp in Swiss tents. However it is well worth the view. The starlit sky above Chandratal adds an unforgettable magic to the evening, making this night an extraordinary experience.

I did Winter Spiti Expedition with Wolfpack Adventures, and it was a fantastic experience. I first got to know about them through a friend who had already done the Winter Spiti ride with them. Initially, my plan was to do the expedition in a 4x4 with my wife, but her plans got cancelled at the last moment. I reached out to the team to see if it was possible to switch to a motorcycle instead, and despite the short notice they somehow managed to arrange one for me. I ended up riding a Hero XPulse 200 with the rally kit, and the bikes were prepped really well with fresh knobby tyres, which made riding in those winter conditions a lot of fun. The routes they planned were very scenic and really showcased the beauty of Himachal Pradesh. We did miss one section due to road closure, but that’s understandable given the weather and terrain. The hotels booked during the expedition were really good and comfortable. Another highlight of the trip was the people I met along the way — I made some great friends during this ride. Overall, it was an amazing experience riding through Spiti in winter. Huge thanks to the Wolfpack team for making it such a memorable trip.
A winter ride to spiti has been my childhood dream, and choosing them made it unforgettable. Rohit and Seemant didn’t feel like organizers,they felt like brothers. Every detail was perfect, safety, bikes, food, logistics, everything. By the end, leaving them felt emotional. Had an amazing expedition with WolfPack Adventure, led by Seemant and Rohit. The entire trip was extremely well planned from the breathtaking routes to the fantastic hotels at every stop. What really stood out was how professionally they handled unexpected detours, which are a natural part of any real adventure. Everything was managed smoothly. I had a bike breakdown in the middle of nowhere and within minutes the backup vehicle was there, the bike loaded and off to the next stop where they managed to source parts and got them transported overnight only so I could ride and complete my trip. This is a technical ADV expedition, not a standard highway tour. While we provide briefings, you should be comfortable with off-road terrain, loose gravel, and water crossings. But you should still have prior experience with motorcycles to fully enjoy the Spiti circuit.
We decode the “chaos” for you. On Day 1, we conduct a Traffic Dynamics briefing covering mountain etiquette and “horn-language.” Our lead rider and sweep ensure the group moves as a cohesive pack as much as it can.
Prepare for a digital detox. You’ll have signal from Manali till Kaza (BSNL/Airtel/Jio), but remote areas like Mudh and Chandratal are completely offline. We carry radio communication for emergency coordination during these “blackout” stretches.
June and September month is the “Golden Window.” While much of India faces the monsoon, Spiti is a rain shadow desert, offering dry, technical riding under clear skies.
